Rivers, Tribunal Strikes out APC's Request to Transfer Election Materials to Abuja

The Rivers State Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja has denied the solicitation of All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship competitor, Hon. Dakuku Peterside and his gathering to urge the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to move the race materials utilized on April 11 to Abuja for assessment.


In his decision on Wednesday, the Tribunal Chairman, Justice Muazu Pindiga, released the solicitation made by the Counsel to the Petitioner, Akin Olujimi (SAN), on the ground that it needs justify. NG-[A_BA[MOBI_INFI_ALLC]:INFINIX_HOT2_728x90

Pindiga said the request was made on June 11 coordinating INEC to permit the applicant to get to the race materials containing poll peppers and result sheets still stands.

The Chairman held what the tribunal can do was to differ the June 11 request in accordance with the procurements of the law. He decided that since there was no application for varieties from the candidate the tribunal can't give another request on the issue.

Olujimi contending in the interest of the solicitor, had moved a movement that the decision materials be moved from Port Harcourt to INEC Headquarters in Abuja for simple examination on the ground that the authorities in Rivers State had supposedly declined to corporate with the applicant in the execution of the June 11 request.


The tribunal, while administering prior on different movements, struck out the solicitation of Governor Nyesom Wike requesting a stay of execution of the tribunal request of June 11 which allowed the candidate to examine the race materials in Port-Harcourt.

Equity Pindiga rejected the application on the refusal of Wike's Counsel Emmanuel Ukala (SAN) to move it on Monday.

The Tribunal Chairman additionally dismisses the movement of INEC testing the ability of the request including that the movement will be heard alongside the appeal.

In the interim, tribunal has suspended till August 25 for further hearing on the matter.
